About Us

About Capital Electric Cooperative

Since 1948, Capital Electric Cooperative (CEC) has proudly delivered power to the homes and businesses in Burleigh and southern Sheridan counties from our headquarters in Bismarck, North Dakota.

We aren't just a utility; we are a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, which means we are dedicated to operating with the core principles of integrity, accountability, innovation, and commitment to community. As a cooperative, we are owned and governed by the members we serve.

Our Cooperative Difference: Member-Owned

Unlike investor-owned utilities, our governance structure ensures that decisions are made locally, prioritizing the needs of our consumers.

Local Governance

We are governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, all of whom are fellow consumer-members elected to represent the interests of our service districts. The Board meets monthly on the third Friday, with our Annual Meeting held every June.

Beyond the Meter

We offer more than just electricity. We provide a variety of resources and programs focused on energy efficiency, cost savings (like rebates and load control), and economic development within our region.

We are a proud member of Central Power Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Our Mission

Capital Electric Cooperative serves our community and member-owners as their trusted energy provider and partner.
