Annual Meeting: Your Co-op, Your Voice

The Annual Meeting is the most important yearly event for Capital Electric Cooperative (CEC). As a member-owner, this is your opportunity to exercise your right to democratic control, engage with your cooperative leadership, and learn firsthand about the operational and financial health of the organization.

It's a celebration of the cooperative model, combining important business updates with community focus and fellowship.

  • Voting: You will be casting your vote for candidates seeking three-year terms on the Board of Directors in the designated districts.

What Happens at the Annual Meeting?

Capital Electric's Annual Meeting is where cooperative ownership truly comes to life. It's designed to be informative, engaging, and enjoyable for all member-owners.

  • Democratic Governance: Members vote on resolutions and elect fellow members to serve on the Board of Directors.
     
  • Accountability: The Board President and General Manager preside over the business meeting, providing reports on the co-op’s financial condition and operational performance for the past year.
     
  • Community & Fellowship: The event typically begins with a traditional meal and social time, offering members and employees a chance to interact and build community.
     
  • Member Benefits: Attendees often enjoy entertainment and participate in drawings for gift cards, cash prizes, and other door prizes.
     
  • Key Updates: Members receive updates on key initiatives like Operation Round Up and discussions on important issues affecting utility rates and market trends.
     
  • Member participation is a key element to the co-op's success, holding leadership accountable and helping the board serve you to the best of our ability.
