We can’t control the weather, but Budget Billing can help smooth out the ups and downs of your utility bill. By budgeting your bill, you will pay a similar amount each month. Your payment amount is calculated based on a 12-month rolling average and typically only varies slightly. With the rolling average, we never have to periodically “settle up” by adjusting your payment amount, as you never get too far ahead or behind actual amounts owed.
Participation in the Budget Billing plan is limited to members with residential/general service, with at least 6 months of history at the location, and with a current account balance of zero along with favorable payment credit rating. The account will also have to be on Automatic Payment. This helps to ensure that the payment isn’t missed or that there isn’t overpayment on the account which can cause the budget amount to be inaccurate over time. If the account becomes delinquent, Capital Electric reserves the right to remove the member from the plan. Budget Billing payments are determined for your residence and are not transferable. When service is terminated, the Budget Billing account is closed, and a final bill is rendered for actual usage.
Members will be expected to pay the budget amount but are strongly encouraged to monitor their actual account with SmartHub to conserve energy when possible. There will be times of the year a member will use more, or less energy than the Budget Billing amount.
