811 is the number to call before you begin any digging project. A federally mandated national “Call Before You Dig” number, 811 was created to help protect you from unintentionally hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects.
Make the call and you’ll be notified of any dangers lurking underground—like utility lines or gas lines.
Once you provide your name, phone number, proposed digging time and location, utility companies will mark the location of their underground lines for free.
